Tulu Bayar, born in Ankara, Turkey, is an artist whose concern is to create universal commonalities out of polar opposites by employing historical, cultural and political references. As an immigrant artist, her hybrid Middle-eastern and European roots shape her vision and facilitate work that amalgamates accessibility and complexity. She aims to achieve a powerful and personal sense of vision without being sensational or sentimental. Her work stems from her investigations of pressing social issues, notions of identity and embodied experiences as well as exoticism, otherness, hybridism, pluralism and containment.
